Purpose and Objective:

We are an exceptional team of aces distributed around the globeto work with. We have the mission to design and develop a massively scalable,multi-tenant aware and extremely fast data management system for big data (SAPVora). Besides cluster and landscape management it includes engines likerelational or graph and distributed query processing. Central part of thesystem is serverless infrastructure for data flow execution based on containersand Kubernetes.

The project is quickly growing both in terms of size andcomplexity. Consolidation of the products, frequent introduction of newfunctionalities, and support of new environment flavors and user scenarios areamong our top priorities. At the core of our development process there is astrong investment on tool development activities that are focused on providingcutting-edge software to constantly boost the team productivity.

Expectations and Tasks:

As a developer in the SAP Big Data Hub team you will beworking with a group of exceptionally talented and motivated colleagues.
You will need to:
•    Identify relevant technologytrends and drive education in related domains
•    Write meticulous softwareimplementations throughout the whole software stack
•    Perform code reviews andaudits to spot opportunities for improvements with respect to usability,testability, supportability, or potential performance penalties
•    Write regression tests foryour own code using different programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, SQL) andtesting frameworks (e.g. Google C++ Testing Framework)
•    Continually enhance yourexisting skills and seek new areas for personal development
•    Be a strong, committed,reliable team player with a strong service ethic; as well as being a proactivenetworker, a self-starter and self-motivated.
Your tasks will include developing new conceptsin the following areas:
•    Massive scale-out
•    Low latency networking
•    Fault tolerance and security
•    Docker and Kubernetes
•    Deployment on Azure, AWS,Altiscale and SAP Cloud Platform
•    Data pipeline engine
•    Compression algorithms
•    Query execution via Spark
•    Data storage technologies(HDFS, S3, Swift)

Education and Qualifications:

Requiredskills:
•    Very good Master’s orBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields
•    A solid foundation incomputer science with strong competencies in data structure, algorithms, andsoftware design
•    Expert skills in one oremore of the following languages: C++, Java, Scala, Python, R, Lua, Golang
•    A high level of commitment,team-spirit, flexibility, and initiative
Preferred skills:
•    Knowledge of parallel,distributed algorithms
•    Knowledge of scriptinglanguage (for example Python, JavaScript)
•    A solid understanding of oneor more of the following areas: Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, Hive, Flume, Storm, Kafka,ActiveMQ
•    Knowledge in cloud scaledistributed systems
•    Database knowledge
•    Experience with NoSQLDatabases and Technologies like Cassandra, MongoDB, Graph Databases
•    Knowledge in design patternsand object oriented programming
