EMC’s Global Hardware Engineering organization is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to provide strong technical leadership. This hands on role will lead the definition of a manufacturing qualification and validation strategy. He or she will be an expert in middleware, specifically understanding ERP (MRP II) interfaces as well as industry best practices for manufacturing quality. The successful candidate will be able to design a highly scalable distributed system. He or she will provide architectural and design expertise to the Global Hardware Test Solutions group as well as advise and mentor software engineers in external organizations. Responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation and analysis of modules or features of new or upgraded software systems and products.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Uses skills, abilities and experience to develop and deliver a complete manufacturing validation strategy.
• Leads the design and implementation of a manufacturing database and logging system.
• Has experience interfacing manufacturing validation and quality control software with ERP (MRP II).
• Designs system level architecture,provides input to organization direction and strategy.
• Acts as prime consultant on critical projects that impact long term organizational goals and objectives.
• Sphere of influence will involve people and organizations outside of EMC
• Has insight into industry trends and communicates vision to guide organizational and EMC strategy.
• Works on complex problems and provides solutions, which are highly innovative.
• Contributes technical expertise to help determines requirements and functional specifications for entire system.
• Works effectively with cross-functional and/or global teams, readily shares information with others.
• Drives innovation through consultation, consensus building and persuasion, especially cross functionally.
SKILLS
• Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge.
• Excellent C/C++ and/or .NET/C#.
• More than 4 years experience developing manufacturing validation and automation systems.
• Experience leading the development of a complex distributed system.
• Excellent Communication and Presentation skills.
• Experience specifying and interfacing with relational databases..
• Experience with Linux or other UNIX and the GNU toolchain strongly preferred.
• Strong Analytical ability.
• Enjoys debug and root cause analysis.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Understanding of business environment.
• Project management skills.
• Ability to influence others to achieve results.
Education Required: Masters (Technical) Experience Required: 5+ years relevant experience
